  • 14 ounces coconut milk (1 can) Skip the Lite Milk because it lacks the rich coconut flavor
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 3/8 teaspoon table salt
  • 5 large egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter , cut into 2 pieces
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
