Ingredients
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 1/2 cups boiling water
- 1 1/2 cups sifted flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp cloves
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375°F
- Stir boiling water into oatmeal, set aside and let cool
- Soft flour, baking soda, and spices
- Cream butter and sugar (brown and white)
- Add eggs and vanilla, mix well
- In alternating steps, add some of the dry mixture and some of the oatmeal. Alternate, finishing with the dry mixture and mix well
- Coat an 8x12 inch baking pan with butter and flour
- Pour batter into pan and bake for 35-40 minutes or until a cake tester pulls out clean
