Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 3-4 tbsp ice water

Directions

  1. Mix the dry ingredients
  2. Cut butter and shortening into dry mixture, the final texture should be sandy
  3. Mix the egg and vinegar
  4. Add egg/vinegar mixture to the dry mixture and incorporate
  5. Add ice water, 1 tbsp at a time until there is just enough liquid for the crust to hold together
